The Glory of the Lord Fills the Earth

True Fast

The true fast is not to give up food but to share our food with the hungry.

“Is not this the kind of fastingI have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
    and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
    and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
    and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter
when you see the naked, to cloth them,
    and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
    and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.  Then
 you will call, and the Lord will answer;
    you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.  Isaiah 58:6-8

At Home With God

If you make your home in Jesus' teachings, he and Father will make their home with you.

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. John 14:23

The King Maker

The politicians maneuver and rant but it is God who sets up kings and other leaders--and upsets others.

The Name of Jesus

Too often overlooked or shied away from, the name of Jesus is vital. Without the name of Jesus, the nations have no hope (Matthew 12:20-22), Jesus doesn’t join us in our groups with his presence (Matthew 18:19-21). Without it we don’t have the “the right to become children of God” (John 1:11-13). There are so many benefits to this wonderful name—the list is long! The meaning of his name, whether pronounced as Yeshua, Jesus or Isa (or another language pronunciation), is “salvation” or “God saves” (Joshua). Don’t be afraid of using it, believing in it and walking in it. Some may be “scared away” by the name of Jesus but most long for what he offers. Without the name of Jesus, we are like the proverbial “emperor with no clothes”; we are without. I’ve painted the robe with Joseph’s “coat of many colors” in the back of my mind, which many scholars believe was a sign of authority. Followers of Jesus are sent forth in the authority of his name.

Light & Life Overcoming Darkness & Death!

Art teachers ask, “What is the painting about? Make that the emphasis.” This painting is about Light and Life overcoming Darkness and Death so I’ve made the later the smallest part while Light and Life overtake the space.

Since they’re so significant in scripture, I use palm trees to represent the Tree of Life. (Notice that the palm isn’t rooted in “the darkness” but is on top of it).

Adam and Eve missed their opportunity to eat from the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden but followers of Jesus get a second chance to live forever—because of Jesus’ death and resurrection!
